Nail Question

Can anyone tell me what type of nail this is?

About 4-5mm dia with rolled spiral shank and about 50mm long.

Looks like the old fashioned version of a Galvanised Drive Screw. Google it.

Found in a concrete footpath we re-instated in 2002.

Claimant says we put it in the wet concrete projecting about an inch when the footpath was re-laid.

Trying to work out what kind of nail it is and if it is from a gun, can't see how you could hammer that into concrete by hand!.

could possibly be from a paslode, but at that time there werent too many other makers of the nails, and paslodes are normally annular, rather than a screw type thread as that has.

Looks like part of one of the spikes that were used to attach cast iron rainware to brickwork.

(Edit) On reflection, probably a bit small for a pipe nail, they were about 10mm Dia, but about the right size for a nail for fixing corrugated iron sheets (/Edit)

assuming its a "no win no fee" case then - isnt there a 6 year time limit? tell em to "hop off"

Three years from the accident, not when the defect occurred.

But how do you get one 30mm into set concrete?

There was some flaking of the concrete around the nail shank.

...could it have "arrived" in the gravel or sand used in the mix?

in the past I have found all sorts of wierd stuff in sand and gravel delivery`s

although this suggestion doesn`t help your situation much!
