I have an ideal C24 mini in my holiday home. It has a facility to only heat hot water but I have found that the only way I can have hot water is to turn the central heating on as well and switch all the radiators off.
I can not programme the flipping thing either by using the timer buttons. I have read the instructions over and over again and tried it a million times but always end up forcing the boiler on by using the first button on the timer and then leaving it on with the rads turned off. Can someone please help or shall I get an engineer out?

First of all its an Ideal so your lucky your getting hot Rads.

Have you turned it to summer mode for water only?
If so it may well be your divertor valve.
The problem is that this boiler has so many problems its a nightmare to diagnose online.

As with your programmer keep reading is all i can say!

First of all if was in summer mode htw should work, all the summer mode does is swith ch off.

Does the micro switch make when Dhw is drawn off. ie inside boiler black switch bottom right hand side has a red led on it?

That was my point switch to summer to see if you get HW only as sounds like OP has it on both.
They will prob have no idea what a micro switch is so that advice is next to useless.

I don't know about summer and winter setting - is it in the timer bit?
The only bit I have fiddled with is where the flap drops down at the bottom - nothing under the cover - yet!!

summer or winter mode if he runs his tap he should have dhw, its got nothing to do with summer an winter modes.

he is complaining of no htw Not no ch.

OP has stated that he/she only gets hot water when radiators are on, he/she still gets Hot Water when they shut said radiators off manually, leads me to beleive THEY are doing summit wrong or the DIVERTOR as i pointed out.
reason i said to turn it to summer was simply a trial to see.
At this point for all we know they have the boiler on constant and that is why they are making this assumption with the rads, they have also stated in this topic they have no idea how to work either the controls or the timer.
Get rid of the obvious and the hidden will become clear my friend.

the heating has to be on constant because when i fire it up and turn to only hot water the water is not enough to fire the boiler it only fires when button is turned to rads mode. I am reasonably bright and as far as can tell unless there is something hidden in instructions for timer I have done everything correctly. it is not that dissimilar to timer at home.
Divertor bit sounds interesting. How would I check
