I am about to fit a new electric oven, 2.2kw. The book says cable of 1.5mm is required. There is a direct connection on the back of the oven. Can i wire it direct to the consumer unit from the oven? What size circuit breaker should i use?

And (if you are providing a new circuit) this will need to be RCD protected. You will also need to notify the local authority as you would be:
a) carrying out electrical work in a kitchen
and
b) providing a new circuit

Better to just plug it into an existing socket!

And your local authority will shaft your for a £190 for that experience.
