My mother-in-law has just had some plumbing work done that entailed the fitting of a new high level cistern.

My wife saw the work today and was not impressed (I've been told that I've got to have a look at the weekend).

My question relates to the workings of the cistern. The old overflow pipe has not been connected to the new cistern because "it has an internal over flow system".

Now this is something I have never heard of, internal over flow system, is there such a thing?

If someone could comment please I'd be very grateful.

An internal overflow is just a shorter syphon, so your M.I.L.'s plumber wasn't telling porkies. :)

then why not open your mouth when the installer was doing the job and
behind his back ? ::evil:
What planet are you on?

Are you incapable of reading and understanding a very simple statement followed by a very simple question?

In simple English for you, I'll explain a little more.

We do not live with my mother-in-law but about 25 miles away, my wife, her daughter, visited today and found the plumbing work as described.

Does that help with your understanding? Are you a plumber?

not impressed with what ? cause the overflows not connected.

so why not ask him instead of going behind his back and questioning his work ?

Are you a plumber?

yes thank you.

Thanks crockett, at least you have understood what I was saying/asking.

Since making the original post I did what I should have done first I did some searching.

I found a description and an example drawing of a cistern with the internal overflow, our worries have gone.

Again thanks.

Well you still don't get it do you?

I'm just grateful you're in Essex, no chance of me asking you, a plumber with your kind of attitude to do work for me.

The End - Gone

.

i just love people that question other peoples work behind their back.
do it yourself next time if your any better.

no but my customers don't talk behind my back.

Evening Seco!! Everything ok? I know what you're saying, but I expect the OP's wife probably saw different shades of paint on the wall where the new cistern replaced the old one, a hole in the wall where the original overflow went through, etc etc. but I'm just guessing. :)

good evening crockett.

it's just the way they put it NOT IMPRESSED they get my back up.

then maybe he did forget to connect it and oneday it will p*ss all on their heads
