In most religions yes, not judaism...in the way we would think of a devil anyway, islam has the Iblis...which is a type of Jinn. He has no power himself but is a corrupter of mankind ...they even has a dejal..an antichrist type thing that jesus kills...jesus is just a prophet called isa in Islam though.
I think religion has moved on since then. We all realise the world is no longer flat.
If you think that people believe in something or have faith in something simply to explain physical events then you are way off the mark.

Alsheating im guessing but you i reckon you have been brought up all your life in a specific religion.
NOTHING anyone could say will ever disuade you from your religious viewpoint no matter how valid , or well thought out or clear the argument is.
Yet i think you may have Doubts hence you starting a thread like this.
You talk like someone trying to convince himself of his own beliefs and your lack of knowledge about so many things you call scientific is really quite apparent.

We all realise the world is no longer flat.
Why does it seem to me............That....everytime a muslim/religious lunatic airs their views on this forum.....its forced down my throat.
The reason islam is taking over the world, (and make no mistake it is) is that forums like this and the western world allows it.........
My religion is NIL............I dont preach THAT to anyone at all.
Ban religion.......Or......at least, if religious people want to indulge in that kind of behaviour, (regardless of any particular faith) Fair play to them....fill your boots......
But I would ban a congregation of more than, say, a single family , let them do it privately, Why can't they celebrate their faith in their own little world.......???????
Why do I, or any one else, have to be recruited/force-fed it all the time....??
The roads in north London were closed, by our good old met police, so that abu hamza could preach death and destruction to all of us English NON BELIEVERS....You couldn't make it up.!!!!!!!

Out of interest, how do you know a rock doesn't have a belief? After all, isn't it written somewhere about a church being built upon a rock. Seems pretty conclusive evidence to me

for your info, Yes my family my parents is muslim, but up until 5 years ago, I never paid it much heed, but since I started reading quran and learning and having proofs, I took the shahada, and now I am devout, but then I guess I am lucky.
Hades wasn't really a devil...you see EVERYONE went to hades, it wasn't so black and white for them. Death was death.
Our understanding of the afterlife being a 'Hell' only came about at the advent of Christianity...which Islam adopted.
