equipment voltage rating

hello I have a simple query regarding 230V supplies in my house.

Are all the components (eg sockets) rated for 230V or for 325V? 325V of course being the Peak V.

The stated voltage will normally be 230vac however the components like capacitors will be rated 650 volt or higher i.e. peak to peak.

By being rated 230v AC RMS, they will of course be rated to 325v P-P.

I suppose my question should have been, is rated voltage always given in RMS? therfore anything rated for 230V will by defaut be rated for the peak voltage as well.

If it says "230V AC" then it will be the RMS value.
