It's a TT supply feeding a static. The box is nailed to a pole in the garden. The box is rotting & has lost its lid. There is no visible electrode (although there is an earth wire disappearing somewhere), no RCD (but there is a non-functioning VO ELCB!), a rusty switchfuse feeding SWA with the armour not attached and there are no PEB's inside the static. As the picture shows, the EFLI is a tad high.

Another VO ELCB Rob!!! This one needs to replace your pic in the Periodic Inspection Booklet!!!

I assume you're considering passing it???

Any where local? Can't think of many places near by apart from Warm Lane.

Are you even going to bother trying to trace the potential electrode!!

Another excellent pic

This is one of Securesparks jobs.

I am just the messenger (and uploader of photos!)

Thank you, oh great messenger!

I love the fact that absolutely everything about this installation is WRONG!!

The exquisitely-crafted IP-rated enclosure

The TT supply with 30mA RCD protection

The close attention paid to choosing the correct csa when selecting the size of conductors to feed the switchfuse

The fact that for once on an installation I visit, someone has paid heed to 416.2.2

The beautifully terminated SWA cable

The well-installed earth electrode

And last, but not least, the wonderfully low Ze.

NOT!!

BTW, it's in Pickmere, near Knutsford.

I PIRed the submains in a site of park homes last summer, they were every similar to the pictures above, I knew what the conclusion of the report would be within quarter of an hour walking round

appologise SS. Have you delivered the report yet?? Would love to know their reaction, you would have thought than basic common sense would have made them call someone once the 'cupboard' began to look less cupboard and more uncupboard!!

Things like this make you wish for the electrical equivalent of gas danger "do not use" notices...

I left my paperwork with the owner of the static on the day.

I also rang Manweb and asked them to check their equipment for safety.

What I would like to do is go back and take a picture after their visit, but I'm not sure if I can get back.

We have those, and I left plenty! But we cannot isolate an installation, or part of it, without the householder's permission.

Unlike the utilities, who switch off if the installation is dangerous, permission or not.
