I'm looking to replace my bath with a deeper one.

The bath needs to be the same size as my existing bath as there's walls at both ends... here in lies the problem!

My current bath is 1695mm in length.... every bath I've seen is 1700mm, seems it's a standard size but obviously this wont fit in the space I have??? So what's with that?

Are 1700mm bath's generally actually 1695mm to allow good fitting, I cant for one minute think this bath I currently have is some bespoke size for this flat, it's just a cheap acrylic bath after all...

Any ideas?

I think your actual bathtub is 1700 mm as well but they must have cut the wall and pushed 50 mm of your bathtub into the wall ;)

Hi there,

Agree with dotto,

Although looking at your sizes, i think he means the have recessed into the walls by 5mm not 50mm

ditto rico  5mm is FA. thats 2,5 @ each end . the walls run out more than that, I`ll bet ;)

remove a section of plasterboard, fit the bathtub in place and make good.

Not disputing your measuring ;) .It`s usual to sink a bath into walls - plasterboard or plastered sink it in

1700 less 1695 is 5 mm 1/5 of an inch

i have fitted baths 1700 in 1600 mm gaps by the time its been tiled , thats 4 inches

also if you look at the trojen bath range you can get a bath 1675mm or imperial 5' foot 6 inches not sure how deep it is

also chances are if its deeper you have to fit it higher slightly any way which would destroy decor or tiles any way

its normal to have to bash the wall out at the end of the bath to make the bath fit any way
