Hi,

I guess this is a plumbing question...!
I have a problem with the soil downpipe where it links into the drain. In the photo, the soil downpipe is top right of the picture. Flow of the drain is to the top.

What is happening, is that when the toilet is flushed the waste shoots out the pipe and piles up in the corner bottom left of the picture. Is there a way I can add a deflector or bend to the ceramic outlet to get the waste to go down into the channel, and possibly aiming in the correct direction?

Hi

I would suspect you have created an additional bathroom/ ensuite / whatever.

Unfortunately that pipe was never intended to be used for waste water. It is to vent the manhole.

Bit of a screw up.

Thanet.

Not much you can do with the clay pipe. Stack looks like its plastic, if you dont mind a bit of work, dig out the bottom of the pipe, change to plastic and rejig it going into the chamber. Ideally it needs to enter as low as possible, then put a suitable bend on it to direct the flow in the right direction.

I spy a gulley behind the main stack, what is this and where does it join the main drainage.

Also do you have combined or independent drains?

To comply with regs you need a rest bend at the base of a soil stack which as the guys above have said needs a bit of digging to sort out.

The gulley takes the waste from bath/basin via a hopper, and kitchen sink waste. I assume it joins the main waste very near to that point as the water from it runs through the next manhole at the front of the house.

The bend in the channel at the bottom of the pic comes from an old outside toilet (currently home to the washing machine)

Looks like I'll be digging then...

Fair Play to you - but the bits aren`t cheap . My M8 just bought a Volvo 760 estate for what they `ll cost you.( 20 years old) And you should notify Building Control @ the local council - Like I do when I do work here @ home ;)

How about fitting one of those black rubber connectors with big Jubilee clips, [can't remember their name] onto a couple of solvent weld elbows?

I'm not going to discount the mudflap idea...
