Pressurised water in the rads?

I'm knocking down an extension in a house i've bought that is unused, the water is switched on (for washing hands/making tea/mixing compo, the gas and CH turned off.

I need to remove a radiator and bust it off the pipes this weekend. Until my plumber guy comes on Tuesday to cap the pipes off properly, can I rag the rad off or will water start peeing out the copper pipes?

(I always thought the rads filled when the heating was on and drained when they were off, but hey, I'm a roofer! )

Is it a combi boiler or does it have a tank in the loft.

Both types will need to be drained. If there is a tank then tie the ball valve up to stop the system refilling and drain the rad down. Same with combi. LOOK for a drain cock to attach a hose to.

The water in the radiator pipes will probably be manky dirty and will stain carpets PERMANENTLY.
