hi guys, i had a fella ring me the other day to do a job for him the problem is hes one of them blokes that instead of letting you come round look at it and price it accordingly he tells you the price and you have to decide if you want it or not, hes not to botherd if you say no cos he will find someone somewhere to do it for his price he always does.
so my question is how much do you think is an ok price to sand and cement all the walls and then skim everything walls and ceilins labour only and time scale if anybody would know off the top of thier head.

let him go elsewhere, chances are hes guna eventually run out of people he can use for jobs if thats the way he works, personally don't do the job mate. hes probably only then guna go round your work and find the tiniest of blemish and refuse to pay up!! do a good job, for good people, get good referrals, and get good pay... thats how i operate personally.

I'm appalled people try this with the pros.

I've had quotes for work in the different trades as part of a refurb when I can't deal with all - wouldn't dream of this approach!
Personally want a quality job done - almost treat it as an informal interview! I usually read up a bit on the subject and I would ask enough questions that I would be satisfied they have a reasonable knowledge at least on what they're doing.

I really hope people who pull stunts like this end up employing some of the cowboys that we hear about from some of the posts here. It would be justice!

i would like to know what his offfer was as well, it may be a good price b4 we know, some people work like that, especially contractors who have a set rate for m2, when you hear what there paying you can either say yes or no

hi guys, he gave me a price of 1400 and i worked it all out anit wasnt worth me doin it my friend was given a price for the carpentry too that was 1200 to nog the exsisting stud walls then tack 5 ceilings and 5 walls fit a kitchen a new banister and spindles fit door lineings and doors and skirt and architrave the entier flat, which of course he turned down.
my job was to sand and cement and skim everything so float and set the walls and just skim the ceilins. i turned it down
