I have an Albion unvented direct unit. After 1 shower in the morning the water gets cold. At night the 'off-peak' light is on, which means the timer program is working. Now I have had to program it on 'boost' mode for the whole day...which is not economical and might damage the heater. I've change the thermostat of the lower immersion but problem persists.

Anyone can advise on what's the problem? Thanks!

You may have changed the thermostat but have any electrical measurements been made?

To repair something you need to first diagnose what the problem is. Blindly changing parts clearly does not fix it.

A neighbour told me the problem could be the thermostat or the element and I figured out I'd choose the easier option. It hasn't been easy to get a professional to come to check at this time of the year.

It seems to have been very easy in London this last week! I had a message left at 0900 on Tuesday and by the time I had returned the call at 1200 it had already been fixed by someone else.

I have had no new calls all of this saturday.

It could well have been the thermostat, quite possible just tripped on the overheat stat. But obviously not and they are not so cheap either. So diagnosing the fault is esential for me.

It might be the element or something in the supply.

Have you checked there is no discharge at the tundish?

There's nothing now. But last time I noticed hot water was dripping.
If you had HW dripping from it you will, naturally, have a reduced supply of hot water. You may well need a G3 certificated engineer to work on this equipment.
