Not my thing have not done a lot of work on them,
so question is:
what are the possible problems, if a single storage heater is on full all the time and will not turn down?

Do you mean the heater is charging 24/7 or charging to maximum during off peak hours

If it is the latter I would check the thermostat, usually behind the input contol knob

Thanks for the replies,
This is the problem,
The heater heats up but the control doesn't allow it to be turned down, therefor when the heating comes on it can not be regulated.
A new thermostat was fitted about two weeks ago but this has not resolved the problem.

well there isnt any real control on these storage heaters just a flap on the top which allows heat to escape slower, the front of the heater is always hot tho,(untill it cools down that is)
inside, if you dont know, are concrete sort of blocks that heat up using cheaper electricity at night then cool down through the day giving out heat, normally by late evening most of the heat has gone tho, just when you need it

so if it is the output flap, how would this be remedied?
The output regulator is just a mechanical cover over the top of the heater.

If you remove the outer cover, it should be obvious as to what the problem is (i.e. flap jammed, fallen off the hinges etc.).
Switch the heater off the night before and allow to cool before removing the covers.
