Using one boiler instead of two.

Can someone please advise me on this subject.

I have a Glowworm Combi serving 1st floor about 15 years now using 15mm copper. There is a later Eurocombi A23/A27 on the ground floor using 8 mm.

The Glowworm would cost too much to repair.

Would it be OK to do away with the Glowworm and use the shortest run to connect the 15mm to the Eurocombi ?

It depends on whether your Euro has enough output to be able to supply the whole property, as there are two boilers installed it would be a reasonable assumption to make that it does not, in which case you can't do it

That will all depend on height of radiators , a 1 metre length for a 450 high radiator will differ considerably to that of a 750 high rad......i don't buy the 1 kw per metre just too many variables............

Off course it does.
It works out almost spot on for 600 high rads, and anyone with half a brain can convert other heights to equivalent length of 600 high.

....i don't buy the 1 kw per metre just too many variables............

Zero variables after conversion of other heightst to 600; any real RGI can tell you that.
You keep sticking your foot in it, don't you.

In my experience of London this situation usually arises because the heating was seperated because the property was to be used as two flats. I can think of two properties like that.

Either boiler can probably supply the heating with no problem so there is no need to bother thinking about it.

The hot water is more of a problem and one boiler will only supply one outlet at a time. Only the users will be able to judge if that will be any problem.

Whats wrong with the G-W boiler and why do you think that it cannot be repaired? Its rare that I ever see a combi boiler which cannot be repaired.

need a big wagon to carry all the gear.

Lets take a 600x1400 DP against a 600x1400 DPDC , would you say the increased output of 781w/2664btu would be considered 'ok' for a rough estimate? ..I think not.

You stated the 1-1-2 min test for IGE/UP/1B was 'arbitrary' , would you like me to put you right on that & show you the calculation involved?
