Electic shower power hunting

I have just installed a new electric shower (9Kw) with a 40A mcb connected to a RCD and then to a 40A switch to control supply to shower via 6mm cable. When I turn on the shower the power hunts (on/off repeatedly), the mcb + rcd do not trip but the socket mcb does.

Help any ideas please.

I hope its 10mm² cable and not 6mm² :/

Depending on cable run, clipped, free, conduit, insulation etc.

Power to the shower only, or the whole building?
Is this in a rural area with an overhead supply?

Also - did you flush the water supply before you commissioned the shower, you may have blocked the filter.

Ps are all the connections "proper" and tight.

yes but don't cause the elecy power to hunt.

Not even if flow valve is allowing some water through, then the overheat stat cuts out?

Yep but that won't cause the power to hunt just cuts power to the elements till temp gained.
