Are isolator valves regulation?

Hello,

I was wondering if someone could tell me if fitting isolator valves on a new sink and bath were regulation or just 'good practice'.

I think they may also be required in the water regs seco....though I can't be boverred to check.

Thanks for your reply. This is why I asked, as some things I have read said they are regulation and I don't know how to check. Would you know how I would find out for sure please?
