I've just bought a Moretti tap from screwfix (£78) as that seems the cheapest tap that doesn't have a reliability problem (thank god for customer reviews). I live in a terraced house with a hot water cylinder in the bedroom upstairs...............does that mean I have 0.5bar?

do you have 5 metres from the kitchen tap to the bottom of the cold water tank ? probably not so your tap wont work as it should, you have 2 options either plumb them in and see what you got or send them back.
Supposing that the cold water tank is on the loft floor, you probably have approx 0.35bar, so a little short. Ideally, you need a tap suitable for low pressure systems (approx. 0.1 - 0.2bar min.).
If you use the tap you have, it should work, but the flow might not be quite as good as it should be. To help the situation, make sure that any flexi connectors aren't kinked, and don't use any isolating valves on the tap's pipework as these restrict flow.
Taps with conventional valves (washer type) rather than ceramic disc ones are better for low pressure systems.

I have one of these Moretti taps in my kitchen, with CWS tank in loft giving about 0.35 - 0.4m head, and Whitespirit66 has it spot on!
Thanks lads, jeez just choosing a tap has become a technical exercise, i wonder how much more complicated life will get, bring back the 60's!
You were bang on, I have about 13 feet, so it'll be a reduced flow for me, what a shame cos the thing is so good looking, perhaps taps are like women.............the better looks, the more useless in the home!
