Do professional painters clean their brushes and reuse them or buy new each time?

If you use a brush for white gloss, does that mean after cleaning you use it only for light coloured gloss or do you use it for anything once you've cleaned it.

As a DIYer I've always thrown the brushes away after use, but want to know what the pros do. (I've already started using a kettle!)

You'll find most decs have a brushmate which stores wet paint brushes and keeps them so.

I do clean them as well. I've got good brushes and it would cost me too much to keep buying new ones plus you can't beat a nicely broken in brush.
Coloured glosses i normally clean but don't do much reckon 90% of my work is white just get the occasional front door or garage door that'll have a colour.

I do also buy cheap brushes for single 'use and chuck' jobs like shellac based bin.

I use purdy synthetics and wooster bristles, both very good.
