Is fast approaching - what tricks do you play on the Halloweeners themselves?

I actually like Halloween, i'm not into the Americanised way of things like trick or treating.

We take the little to a place near us called Farmageddon which is brilliant on Halloween, get the little one a pumpkin etc.

If the kids like it, and can enjoy it without glorified begging, then its all fun.

Although most think it's an American thing, I remember as a kid growing up in Scotland, we used to go guising on Halloween. This was in the very late 50's early 60's. Bobbing for Apples etc All the typical Halloween stuff. (but 50 yrs ago)

We still went guising in my day too John, that was 25 years ago. You do still see some around but it's not like it used to be.

yeah thats true John. Its just Americanised with the trick or treat phrase now.

Still all good fun though!

All year we tell our children to avoid strangers with sweets and then...............................

Saw somewhere they are bringing Bob-A-Job back. Wonder how long that will last as it was stopped because of the issues raised with "strange adults".

Alright for you lot....I'm in the sweet business and the little b******s know it...they make a beeline for my place...

But what is halloween? or hallow's eve? do we know what we are celebrating? (without wikipediaing!!)

Without googling, I believe its an old Celtic tradition that is related to the end of the harvest or summer season. Lots of varitiations though have been adapted from Roman festivals of the dead and souls, or something like that anyway, could be wrong though.

I have bought the Mrs a wee Halloween present
A pair of crutchless knickers ,nothing sexual.
It is so she can hold her broomstick better
