Need a shower for combi boiler

Hi

I recently moved house and the shower isn't good.

When I turn it on the water goes hot, warm, hot, warm. The water pressure is fine but the temperature keeps changing. I have a combi boiler with a medium water flow.

What type of shower do I need for a combi boiler so the temperature doesn't keep changing when I turn the shower on ? Also if anyone can recommend any good showers/brands that would be great.

Is the temp stable when you run hot water on its own?

If not then its a common boiler fault !

If its when mixing cold then you may have unbalanced supply pressures.

Before you waste money on a new shower I suggest you get the cause identified.

Properly set up I would always prefer the simple mixer that you already have! Thats what I use at home!

When I run the hot water on its own the temperature stays the same both when running the tap and running the shower. Its just when I add cold water to it that the temperature changes randomly.

Depending on how much you want to spend i would recommend a thermostatic shower mixer.

Something like one of these

or if you want a budget model try this

These work in a the same way as a standard thermostatic shower, allowing you to easily control the temperature of the water.

For all combi boilers you should have an electric shower as backup
for hot water when the boiler breaks down.

What an odd idea - you want the OP to install an electric shower as well, just in case?

What do you do if there is no power too - do you keep a big flask of hot water to wash your face in? Talk about over preparedness....

Always advise all customers with combi boilers to have an electric shower
and especially all my landlords I deal with.
