I'm looking to buy (and then install) a new oven. My existing oven (Indesit FV 10 K.B IX GB) has a cable marked "H05RR-F 3G1mm2". The new oven I am looking to buy requires a "H05VV-FG 3 X 1,5 mm2" or equivalent cable (Beko OIM 22300). Can I use the existing cable, or do I need to buy a new cable?

Thanks for your help,
Tristran.

The cable specified for the new oven can carry more current than the one you have, so buy the type specified. The clue is that the cross sectional area is higher (1.5mm2)

Correct, also the spec says the cable can be of maximum 2metres long. That is because of the volt drop.

OP you can use heat resistant flexible cable with a csa of 1.5mm² or greater per conductor.

Why should they be concerned about the voltage drop in the flex, given that most of the voltage drop in the circuit as a whole will probably be in the fixed wiring? Is the 2m limit not more likely to be related to the proximity to a means of isolation?

Kind Regards, John.

Thanks for the help guys!

Just another question. I'm looking to do this myself and am confident in doing it. However, I'm not sure what the legality of this is? I'd simply be wiring in an oven and not making any other electrical alterations as I live in a new build apartment.

Connecting up a cooker is not notifiable work!.

The manual states, "appliance must only be installed by a qualified electrician". So I should be ok?

Before I waste a trip to B&Q, would I be able to buy the power cable from there?

Sorry for the amateurish questions and once again thanks for the advice.
