Can porches be removed?

Our house has a hideous little porch put on by the easily-conned elderly residents here before us; it's wonky, two slim double doors that are out of alignment, and really, really ugly.

We're doing the house up but with the intention of selling it, so we're not aiming to spend thousands making it look amazing. The porch certainly has to go, but I think I'd rather return to a porchless front - all the other houses here of the same design have no porch - than pay £3000+ for a porch for the next owners.

I asked a builder in the family (who hadn't seen it) if porches could be removed and he just said 'impossible', no discussion. Is this really true? It doesn't look like some deeply structural thing. Looks more like it was stuck to the front wall with Pritt Stick.

If it was added on, it can be taken off !
Simon.
