They're on about this on Question Time right now. I liked the way the question was put, "Are we still 'all in this together' when VAT is applied to pasties but not to Caviar?'
Some moron from the ConDems is stating that the reason for the 'Pasty Tax' was to create a level playing field between hot takeaway food such as Fish & Chips, Chinese, Indians etc and hot takeaway food from a bakery (You pay VAT on your Fish & Chips etc but not a hot pies, pasties etc).
Well here's an idea, if this is designed to provide a 'level playing field' on VAT, lets have NO VAT on ANY food.
