eton mess caMORON anounced just after the budjet and the revealing of a tax on hot pastys and all the backlash that its caused that he recently bought a pasty from leeds station and he loves them!! can he explain that no company in the station has sold pastys for over 5 years ???

this country is a ridiculous mess.... a tax on warm food? why? does it wear out forks more quickly?
surely a tax should have a reason d'etre???

like road tax = mending roads !!

it's economics gone bonkers !!!

 maybe the tax on hot pies will go to the nhs to treat the morbidly obese.

They're on about this on Question Time right now. I liked the way the question was put, "Are we still 'all in this together' when VAT is applied to pasties but not to Caviar?'

Some moron from the ConDems is stating that the reason for the 'Pasty Tax' was to create a level playing field between hot takeaway food such as Fish & Chips, Chinese, Indians etc and hot takeaway food from a bakery (You pay VAT on your Fish & Chips etc but not a hot pies, pasties etc).

Well here's an idea, if this is designed to provide a 'level playing field' on VAT, lets have NO VAT on ANY food.

We need a new forum then.

yes.....a new forum about motorbikes :P
If you wish to discuss motorbikes, there is nothing stopping you. If you wish to see a new forum section to discuss motorbikes you have every right to request such a section.

 it was a throwaway comment.....jeeeeeeeez, u didnt used to such a grouch......

on topic.............if u buy a pie in a chippy.....was it vat rated before?

i guess the obvious answer to the pasty tax is......................dont eat pasties......have a nice zero vat rated salad instead :D :D :D

IF hot food is charged VAT, and if hot food from a take-away or a chip shop is charged VAT, is there any good reason why hot food should be VAT free when you buy it from Greggs?
