I am converting the spare room into an office, I would like to add two double sockets, whats the easiest way to do this and what materials are required ?
There are few ways to install extra socket outlets, so the easiest method and the materials required will be much dependant on the set up you have on your existing installation and the aesthetic look you wish to obtain.
Are you sinking sockets in to wall or having them surface mounted?
I assume there is already at least one socket already in the room, if so what type of circuit is it (ring or radial) and what size fuse is protecting the circuit?
Do you have access to the void between floor and ceiling for routing cables?
Have you got RCD protection?
The answer to these question will help, as you can extend circuit, spur from individual sockets or spur from a fuse connection, cables and boxes can be sunk in to walls, surface mounted and run in trunking.
Sorry but I dont know what the differance is between ring and radial, there is an existing double in the room, I do have access to the space between floor and ceiling.
I thought to run a spur off the socket providing its not a spur itself and another off a junction box or perhaps I should run both spurs off the one junction box ?
On the consumer box there is a breaker labelled sockets

You cannot run two spurs from one socket or junction box unless it is a radial final circuit. Provided its not a spur already you can connect a 13Amp fcu to the original socket (or as a replacement for the original socket) and then add as many sockets as you like after the fcu but....
Are you sure this is not the best (safest) method for you. http://www.screwfix.com/p/masterplug-surge-protected-extension-lead-4g-240v-2m/56013
