Powerful Extractor Fan - slimline for 7m Duct run!??

The cloakroom is just 7cu metre volume. I have a 7mtr long duct run in 4" smooth PVC soil pipe. I want to lose the current old, unsightly, but very efficient Vent Axia surface mounted fan; a massive box, hanging 5"/125mm into this tiny room. But it works very well considering the challenge of such a long duct run

I prefer the modern compact slimline type where most of the fan is within the duct, only a thin grill/vent showing. I have a ceiling void above the room, beneath the landing above with fitted carpet. I have considered an in-line fan hidden there, but would prefer the whole thing accessible from the cloakroom.

Looking at alternatives I struggle to find one with the muscle to draw the air along that long 7mtr duct - that either doesn't protrude into the room or isn't an inline one hidden where it would be difficult to get to if there was a problem.

I have looked at the TLC range of Soler & Palau - TD - Mixed Flow Duct Fans - TD 160 which will draw 9metres. But these are in-line mixed flow, bulky and expensive. And, I'm not sure if I can get access to the duct run other than from the cloakroom.

Does anyone know of a slimline fan that will do the job?

whats the flow on the current fan?
GET (schneider) do a slimline fan that will do 93M/hr, or a turbo one that will do 129M/hr both have a projection of 12mm

most of the inline ones are rated at 95m/hr

The fan you had orginally installed was most likley a centrifugal fan and is better suited on jobs with higher resistance to the air flow for example your long duct.

Most the slim line axial fans are only really suited for pushing very short duct runs for example through a wall.

If you install one of these slim line axial fans it is unlikley to move the air.

Thanks so much both of you for your replies. I have just checked the original fan, Manrose rated 25w model EAV450, Oracstar on the outer casing, but no m3/hr rating. I remember buying it from Homebase which was cheaper than Buildbase 15yrs ago. The only reference I can find on the web is to a different looking EAV450 model rated at 98m3/hr. But I would think mine is at least that, draws like a vac cleaner - but a massive box hanging from the ceiling. Hence, your suggestion with just a 12mm protrusion would be ideal.

It doesn't give a maxm duct run like some of them but it is probably more than man enough for my 7m run. I can always contact their tech help.

I just called GET Scheider tech helpline and the 4" slimline turbo GSSTFAN4T rated at 129m3/hr volume capacity is only a 16watt unit with a maximum 2.5mtr duct run. My current one is 25w and works on a 7mtr duct.

Their advice is that volume rating is not necessarily rated to power and the ability to push the air down such a long run as the 7mtr duct I have. They couldn't help with alternatives as they don't do centrifugal or in-lines but said it probably needs to be one of those.

Good try but unless someone has a good alternative I might have to go the
inline hidden behind the ceiling route or stick with the unsightly bulk of my current fan (180mm x 260 x 110) which also looks old and yellow - but it is 25w and gutsy!
Any ideas please?

There is a bit more work involved in its fitting and its a little expensive but this model seems to meet your criteria.

The Vent Axia Lo-Carbon Quadra range might do for you. It can also be flush mounted but you will need to check carefully that you have enough space in the void.

Even on the surface its not ugly.
