Squeek from under bonnet on 06 reg C4

What could this mean? Is it a belt that will need replacing soon? Will it cost me a small fortune? Its 1.6 diesel, done 66000 miles. Probably due a major service.

Has it had a cambelt?

The hot and cold weather we are having is not doing the rubber in the belts anygood.

Not had a cambelt while ive had it, got it at 35000 miles. Squealing only happens on startup, disappears when i rev it a bit. Is a cam belt change expensive?

As its 6 ish years old, it's prob due.

I'd get a mechanic to look at it, it might not be the cambelt or a tensioner, but I'd look into the cambelt anyway.

It could be that it just needs tightening up,according to this on the C4 owners page the belt does not need changing until 150,000 miles or ten years which ever is sooner.

Ah, I stand corrected.

sounds like the serpentine belt needs changing, should be an inexpensive job
