External speakers to TV.

I have a Samsung LE 46 M5 television.

Will the audio output jacks drive a pair of speakers , Or does it ned an audio amp.

Speakers are a pair of JAMO 165D.

Not bothered about lots of volume, It just seems a waste not to use the speakers.

Without looking at your TV specification sheet, I can't be certain. But most audio outputs are "line level"; suitable for feeding to an amplifier.

Sam Gangee is right on this. Very few mass market brand TVs have speaker outputs any more. In fact very few TVs have a dedicated stereo line out feature. Often the red & white phonos are an INPUT for sound (for connecting a source TO the TV) rather than an OUTPUT for getting sound FROM a TV.

Check your manual or the back of the TV to see if the sockets are marked audio out (which is good and the first step towards what you want) or audio in which is bad for what you plan.

Definately says audio out.
The audio in jacks are located well belolw them.

You will need a stereo hifi amp. If you do not have one look on E-bay for a cheap but good SH amp. Connect the tv audio out to Aux in on the amp.

If you have a set of "computer speakers" you could use them for testing purposes. If you are a non-discerning listener (or partly deaf like me) they might even sound good!

A word on amps and external speakers: Do check whether the audio out volume is fixed or varies with the TV volume setting. The most common situation is that it is fixed. This means you need to turn down the TV speaker volume, and then you'll need some way to control the amplifier volume. An amp with remote control is the obvious choice.
