earth wire for extractor fan?

Hi,

I've an extractor fan light kit with timer for a shower with a connector block that has 3 terminals:
L, LT and N. Is LT Switched Live or Live for timer (i.e. permanent live)?

Also I don't see any earth connection on the fan and the fan isolator swich?

I can use the backbox at the fan isolator switch to connect the earth for the 3 core + earth cable, but where do I connect earth for the same cable at the fan? Do I need a 3 core cable without earth to connect the fan with the isolator switch?

The user manual that came along is rubbish.

L - permanent live
LT - switched live
N - neutral

Yes, do that.

but where do I connect earth for the same cable at the fan? Do I need a 3 core cable without earth to connect the fan with the isolator switch?

Just sleeve it with green&yellow, put it in an extra connector and tuck out of the way.
Do not cut it off.

The earth needs to be carried right through to the fan,via the isolation switch.

That bare copper wire in multi-core cables is known as the Circuit Protective Conductor (CPC) and it must be present and connected to earth..
It does not need to connect to anything at the fan end - assuming the fan is double insulated and has no earth connection - most don't.

Yes just wire up as EFLI has directed and still run CPC/earth to fan, sleeve up in green and yellow PVC sleeve, then terminate it in a connection block.
It's important that the CPC/earth is at the fan, for testing purposes and if you ever in the future or the next occupant buys a fan that requires an earth connection.
