Not what I expected.

Was anyone else looking at the branch he cut off and thinking ... "that's not on the ground yet !"

If he hadn't tied a rope around the end of the branch it would have simply fallen to the ground and not swung into his shin. Painful and costly mistake to make.

Totally idiotic mistake to make its obvious to anyone with half a brain that tied up like that the branch would swing towards him once cut.

I think it's fake. for a start whoever was filming would have run to help him.
And second he/she never called out to ask whether he was ok.

The camera is clearly on a tripod and I think he's alone.

Also, unless he had no lower left leg and it's a prosthetic one, then you can clearly see he's broken both bones (probably smashed them into little bits) and his leg is "flapping" about. He'll not have been walking normally for some time after that.

My biggest surprise is the terseness of his language. I can't help thinking that had it been me, the video would be a continuous stream of bleeps. Though the full pain may not have come on for a while until the adrenalin rush subsided. It'll have been fun climbing down the ladder one legged.

You may have noticed that there's been a section cut there - from him beginning to climb down the ladder, to the ambulance arriving. And you can hear him telling a second person (I'd guess someone he's called in the meantime) to stop the recording.

So the guy has got down the ladder some how with a smashed leg, phoned a friend, played with the camera

He had to choose between getting down or staying there. I've heard of people managing a lot worse. If he was alone, as appears to have been the case at the start, then it may have been a case of "stay up there, and you're up there till someone hears you shouting for help". He may have left his mobile on the ground - especially if he's prone to dropping it from his pocket.

Probably got his mate to zoom out, thinking it would take in the ground action.

I had to watch a second time to actually see the strap that's midway along the branch, that makes it swing in to him.

It made me feel quit sick but useful to see.
