Safer for the dibble to arrest, then release later if required than to let him go now only to find later that they made a monumental fck up.

I don't think so, by putting all of their eggs in one basket so firmly, if there was a chance that that poor little girl was still alive somewhere they would really leave themselves open to the worst criticism.
And rightly so, if that's the way it turned out. That's why I think they must know something.

I'd argue that with a string of charges.
a) he will not get bail
b) more than enough to ensure he stays under arrest for at least one of them.

They have the unusual problem of a possibly strong suspect, arrested early, but no body to confirm the most serious crime (if he did it).

Because the case has not yet gone to trial, the trial could well be tainted by unfounded speculation.

The exact opposite.

The dibble won't, in general, release a name until a charge is made. However, if the press get a sniff, then they won't deny either.
Small rural community, doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out who they have in the nick.

The problem for the press, is what they choose to publish - and how they say it.
You for example, appear to have already decided they have the 'their man'.
Care to explain why you are so sure?

I have already stated..if they have found DNA evidence then it's almost assured, that that was the vehicle used, either he the accused, is covering for someone else, or he knows something about it.

my personal opinion is I think they UNFORUNATLY have found April (god rest her poor soul) but don't don't want to reveal this while there is still so much media (and PAP's) hanging around.
I suspect they know were her body is but want to respectfully recover her!

As a father of four girls my heart goes out to her family and may they find peace and a rightful justice to this.

only if it was by slow release.
capital punishment is easy for these folk, a sentence to death should be by the long and painfull route, dont just open a hatch and watch them fall drop them untill they feel the rope take bite and they suffer.

people who commit crimes should recieve the punishment that fit's! and i do agree with capital punishment only for cases with no doubt.
