Hi, I'm needing your help here, want to add a socket and light from my ring main, not sure if 17th allows? Ive drawn a diagram should make more sense that way.

Thanks

It's not allowed like that.

You will need a fused connection unit with 13A fuse where the junction box is or just after it.

Plus the fcu with 3A fuse where you have drawn it before the light

Yep, that's it.

Just a point which won't apply but JB to 13A FCU should be no more than 3 metres.

The protective device for the ring final circuit will almost certainly provide fault current protection with lengths exceeding 3m.

You're probably correct but as we are not there to test - and the OP presumably can't - perhaps it's better to be safe than almost certain.

I think you'll fail nigh on every domestic ring final circuit if you start imposing a 3m rule on unfused spurs!
The only situation I'm aware of an issue is with 2.5/1 and a BS3036 fuse.

The starting 13amp FCU can be installed on the ring itself.

This may be easier, as the origin FCU can be directly wired into the ring, saving you the hassle and need to purchase an additional junction box, and reduce the number of connections required.
