Texecom Premier to work with remote garage door?

Hi,

At the point of ordering the Texe as a replacement for my old alarm system, pretty much just going to change out as is.
At present the front door is the only entry exit point the alarm is happy with.
We have a remote garage door and then door from that into the house.
Just want to get my head around this bit.
As i drive up to the garage it slowly opens and i drive in, if i have a contact on the door, or more sensibly a PIR in the garage as there is also a window.
This will obviously start the alarm sounding, if I have a keypad in there it would need to be set for a long delay to let the door open, me drive in, get out walk round the car to the keypad.
Any ideas or better options?
I am not sure about a keyfob in the car, as if someone has the car they can also get into the house.

Either way, it is obviously in your interests to protect the garage since at the moment it is the weak link in your chain. Perhaps a roller shutter contact on the door (although it might not be a roller shutter, you need something really heavy duty), and perhaps a dualtec pir/mw inside).

And you don't want to be getting out of the car when it's pouring down, since this defeats the object of automatic doors. Not having the panel in front of me, I'm just wondering if there might be an option for setting different areas, A, B, C etc or manager and cleaner codes, which might get around the delay time.

There is a third option, but I doubt you'd go for it, and that is to put a cheapy system in the garage. Should it activate, it could say break a zone on the main panel or perhaps the PA if someone got into the garage. You would have an extended delay time on that panel and a normal delay on the main panel... with a keypad in the garage of course for the cheapy. A loud internal siren inside the garage would be sufficient for the cheapy. The door from the garage to the house would need to be connected to the main panel though, as far as entry time to the house is concerned. This is just a suggestion, so knock it on the head if you want.

There are several options but you would need to go beyond the security feild per se. Have you tried googling a firm called 'Scope' at Totnes in Devon. They are by no means cheap but they may have something which would suit you.

That said, there may be an engineer on site who can resolve your problem in a few ticks so keep an eye on your post for other suggestions.

Sparky knows his stuff, premier's can do 2 different entry times so have entry time 1 at say 20 seconds for when you come through the front door, and entry time 2 at perhaps 40 seconds for when you open the garage door.

I think I will go the Ricochet and smart keyfob route.

If I have a wireless PIR in the Garage and no garage door contact. Can that PIR count as the second entry point, with for example a 40 sec timer. Or does that job have to be done by a door contact.

cheaper with a wired door contact, but you can buy a premier 48 wireless kit with a fob radio contact plus pirs, but depends on buget.

I am not sure i can get a wire to the garage
Going to have another check today.

I was aiming for the Texe 24 to replace my hardwired side with the ricochet expander for the garage.

There's nothing wrong with doing it that way, but it would appear that the way things are looking at the moment, you are compromising the security of your vehicle and overlooking the weak link in your present set up, as explained in an earlier post.
