Hello All

I have recently moved in to my new house. I dont have any under work top plug sockets so I cant plug my dishwasher, washing machine, etc in without feeding the plug over the work top into the nearest over work top plug.

There are very small holes were the previous owner fed their wires through from the appliance to the over work top socket.

I do not want to cut my appliance plug to feed through as this will invalidate the warranty (And I am not sure I even have the skills to to do this I am engineering inept).

The obvious answer is to get an electrician to install under work top plugs but I am short of funds atm.

Does anyone know of any extension leads or ideas on how to solve this problem.

thanks in advance.

I think if you ask the supplier if this is the case, the answer would be No.

where do people get this idea?

Internet forums, even found an instance on this site of people telling OP not to cut plug off.

If you do cut a moulded plug off, take a hammer to it so no little peolpe can plug it in. ;)

I'm sure there's a good reason why it shouldn't be done, but one cheap lash up would be to make up a short extension lead with a trailing socket on one end and a rewireable plug on t'other - I'm sure that you could find someone to make up the extension for considerably less cost and disruption than adding new sockets.
