Hi there,i have a problem and wanted some help.i own the above boiler and it when it ignites for hot water or central heating,it will ignite on and off a few times before it will ignite permantly.I have had an engineer out and he said he did not have an idea what it was.he said it could be the circuit board but was not sure.....if anybody could help i would be very gratefull...thanks stu

The boiler is not detecting a flame and therefore retries.
It eventually identified the flame.

Check flame electrode and wiring.

Should be easy to sort out.

Did the engineer even take the cover off and start cleaning a few things
and inspect the electrodes?

I really dont think you should be giving the OP, or anyone else reading, a recommendation to do their own gas boiler repairs on gas/combustion issues!

But then again, he might be able to tell his engineer who may then look further as he didn't have a clue before.

Any engineer who cannot fix a simple problem should never be called again!

There are enough to select the good ones and stay with them!

yeah he had a poke around just think he was trying to get me get circuit board and fork out for him installing it,i will try another engineer, thanks for the information and help i appreciate it

Never buy an expensive part for an engineer to fit based on his poor quality guesses.

You would end up having paid for a part which was not needed and you will not get your money back.

Any competent engineer will have confidence in his diagnosis!
