New boiler using too much gas

Its obvious that the new boiler and other modifications have improved the performance of the system, couple with the fact that people with new anything tend to use it more...

memories aren't that good either....do you know with certainty that the timings are the same?

i haven't seen enough to be sure, especially, as you don't like answering questions, but I suspect that the new boiler made the house warmer, so used more gas. It's unlikely that the heat generated by the extra gas burned is doing anything except warming the house (unless you have a big gas or HW leak)

When I swapped my old iron boiler for a modern condensor, the gas usage (averaged out over cold winters and mild ones) dropped by about a third. However rising prices meant that my bills didn't

All the best

bye.

Those figures didn't mean much either because it only worked out at about 12.6Kw input so timing was wrong I think or more likely boiloer was modulating.

p.s.
I just checked my 2011 and 2012 usages

2011
October 49.6 cu metres
November 106 cu.m
December 198 cu.m

2012
October 83.7 cu.m
November 152 cu.m
December 205 cu.m

so, like you, my 2012 usage is significantly more than my 2011.

I account for it by the cold weather. Nothing else has changed.

The new boiler would save you money if you used it for the same amount of heat as the old one!

You have been running the rads hotter so obviously ( to me anyway ) you will use more gas.

Its a nice new boiler so enjoy it.

if i remember the boiler will condense more if the water returning to the boiler is approx 40 oC all the time.
Maybe your radiator system is not configured / sized or installed to get your boiler condensing for long periods, efficiency in hot water mode is not always great,do you use a lot of water ?.
My new worcester cdi combi boiler is using 23% gas in heating mode and 21% gas in hot water mode, yes i checked the gas meter readings with old and new boilers and YEs i have a life.
My radiators are the existing barlo round top ones and when i had them fitted (15 years ago) i had them oversized by 25% because i want a very quick heat up time as me and my wife are naturists who host a lot of parties.(Agile is now getting excited) could be why my heating gas consumption has dropped.
Combi is also used to top up our hot tub via a hose, cheaper and faster than the electric heaters.

To save a lot of gas you need to use less.[/url]

I wouldn't worry about using ~100KwH per day. I'm burning through about 300 per day at the moment with it being 0 deg outside at the moment.

Yes, I do like parties!
