I was wondering what the latest insider knowledge regarding longevity/accessibility/revisions and alternatives on these water cleaning devices is.

Namely, which is best overall. We might have one fitted with the next repair or service.

I've just been reading about a washer issue in one and a small capacity metal particle only in another groan, so I thought it best to ask those in the know.

There you go, hopefully lesson learnt OP, never ask a bunch of plumbers which one is best as you'll get lots of differant answers,
All 3 named are good and i have installed them all,

I recently fitted a Spirotech MB3 to my system and am pleased with the results so far. I accept that it may be marginally less efficient than the Magnaclean but believe it to be a far more durable unit as it is all brass rather than plastic construction. Plastic seems to harden with heat and my concern was how durable it was likely to be in years to come, whereas the brass unit in my mind would be far more resilient.

Also I preferred the design of the Spirotech in terms of ease of connecting a hose and just letting out a small amount of water,

Only time will tell I guess.
