All this is unbelievable.

Who is going to go to all the time and trouble to make this, when a hammer will do? No one.

In the real world that is what happens.

Normally though, looking at a street with 10 houses, 4 with alarms, six without, it is the six that will be 'visited'.

The Yale 434MHz alarm has all detectors default to entry zone anyway.
Which should be programmed at the time of installation to the correct zone type for their needs, as with any alarm system install.

As the manual will say.

I agree.

Indeed it does. I've only ever looked at two of the alarms installed, and both had everything set as entry. Guess what? Users don't read the manual well and don't understand the impact of everything being an entry route.

I have a jammer sat right in front of me. It stops the non-graded alarms and a number of grade 2 alarms from working.

So why were people so annoyed when a video was posted showing how to bypass alarms?

Who are you asking?

It might be because there are a number of people in the world, not all of whom hold the same opinions about everything.

The same people who are saying that jamming alarms is ridiculous are saying that posting a video on a bypass is morally wrong.

Nothing to do with me then.

OOI, are you simultaneously (1) saying alarms can be defeated and this would be a criminal act (2) publishing links to show how to do it?

As I understand it, you do not claim that any real burglars actually use RF jamming. My £5 remains on offer to anyone who can provide evidence that they do (terms apply).

I know alarms can be defeated - it's what I do.

I think it should be published in the open.

Just because something hasn't happened in the past doesn't mean it never will. It's a ridiculous perspective to have.

so in your opinion publishing videos that purport to show how to commit crime is a good thing to do.

Just wanted to check where you stand.

I've been told repeatedly that no one would ever jam am alarm. You've said the same thing.

So what possible harm could it cause?

Showing it being done is somewhat different to showing how to do it.

Hopefully common sense will prevail.

We know where you stand now

1) you believe criminals might start doing it one day

2) you approve of publishing information purporting to educate on how to commit crime.

John,

You can't have it both ways.

If you believe jamming isn't a real risk, why is showing it being done a bad thing?

Yale have been informed of the issues with their alarms and have chosen to not respond.

People buying alarms should be made aware than many of the security "features" are token at best.

Do you believe showing a lock picking video is morally wrong as well?
