Hi all

I did some outdoor work last year and as such I have some CT1 left over:

http://www.ct1ltd.com/phocadownload/new ct1 tech data sheet 18-06-2012 master.pdf

and some Geocel "TheWorks":

http://www.geocel.co.uk/product.aspx?id=214&pr=wrks

Both are hybrid polymers and are advertised as a one stop solution for pretty much every job you can think of which requires a tube and an applicator gun!

So, I'm decorating my kitchen at the moment. I need some caulk for door trim to wall gaps, cracks where the walls meet the ceiling, and stuff like that.

I just wondered whether anyone here uses these sorts of products for such jobs, or has an opinion of their use. I know caulk is not very expensive, but I hate to throw things away and if the CT1/theWorks don't get used on stuff like this they will probably never get used.

Any thoughts would be great.

Cheers

Either would be fine my only thought is that caulk once painted becomes fairly invisible, this stuff may leave more of a 'footprint' i.e. will appear as an obvious joint filler once painted, which caulk when applied well doesn't.

dcdec - can you explain this ?
I have not used CT1 (but their multisolv is wonderful at dissolving silicone !) or any other hybrid polymers but would assume that any product squeezed from a tube could be finished in a similar way giving a similar result, or am I being dumb here (always possible!)

I think density is the word i'm looking for, i think it may leave a thicker denser line i.e. between wall and ceiling caulk becomes fairly invisible, this stuff may be more obvious because its heavier, only supposition though.

Hi all

An update......

I decided to experiment for myself and caulk half the rooms using Geocel The Works and the other half using Everbuild 125.

As per the advice on these forums, I primed the Everbuild with Zinsser 123. I did not prime the Geocel because it said it was not needed (and because it does not like anything other than WB paint).

So.... The first coat of emulsion is on (from this morning). Using Dulux Diamond Matt.

The Everbuild is fine but the paint on the Geocel is already cracking. Damn! Don't know if it is because it is simply not suitable or because I did not prime it. Either way though, it's bloody annoying. I've already caulked my WC and bathroom in the same half and half manner. So now I have got to decide what to do in those rooms before painting. Plus I need to decide what to do with the cracking paint in the kitchen.

Any thoughts about any of this would be most interesting and helpful.

Many thanks

Max
