Hi all

Is there anything out there that can be used to support the center of a 1000mm base unit to stop it bending

Thanks in advance

I would suggest something from this http://search.wickes.co.uk/search?w=angle bracket would be suitable, depending on how much you want the bracket to be hidden.

Thanks

Only issue is that it can not be fixed to the back, as the panel is only hardboard.

Was looking for something similar to a unit leg that can be adjusted.

Need to see if I can get something like that

Whoops!

Anyway, can you not screw some batten underneath the shelf all the way across?

The way I used them was to fit 2 brackets to the wall first so the unit would just sit on them, then secure the top of the cupboards as usual. That way the bottom brackets were partially concealed by the cupboard and screwed up into the base.

The unit was a display cupboard so I didn't want to see any fixings through the cupboard so the top fixings were screwed into the top and to the wall above.

Have a look at this http://www.diynot.com/network/kbdiy/albums/16457/61582. A bit rushed but this is a side view to demonstrate the above.

Hope that helps.

I just fit a piece of timber of the base, as an upright, you can use contiboard, acts like a separator

I replace back board with mdf, solves lots of other problems like the wife shoving crockery thru the back.
