SPORTS PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR 2013

It's hard to think who or what else is so "unique". Couple of grand slams, one of which is Wimbledon. Hard to top.

TBH - having listened to him post match, it's hard not to warm to him a little. He came across as not quite the dullard that he's been before.

I'd give it to Ross Brawn, who was the only one who was quoted as saying our immediate thoughts are with the cameraman you was injured by an errant wheel. Well said.

So not only going down in history for the first Brit in 77yrs to win at Wimbledon, he might be the last Scot to be the BBC British sports personality of the year if Alex Salmond has anything to do with it!!

He's a sad chancer, honestly, if they the Scots wanted it, I wouldn't protest, a fair bit to sort out though, though the majority of Scots I am led to believe don't want it.

The majority of Scots live in England.

Salmond has nae chance o winning wi his independence vote. Anyway back to the thread, Andy Murray must surely be in with a good chance of this years BBC Sports Personality of the year, but he'd struggle tae win any sort o personality contest. He micht be good at tennis, but he has the charisma of a slug on class B drugs. (I'm still glad he won though)

To battle on through and win surely demonstrates strength of character/personality?? Being a boring and witless tw@t (such as he is) pales into insignificance,

How often does a Brit win at Wimbledon?

On average about the same as a Brit wins Le Toure

So anyone winning either of these prestigous events deserve to be knighted IMO.

Which brings me back to BBC Sports Personality of the year and to be honest with you, if Froome wins, as an ex cyclist myself, he gets my vote, but will probably also vote for Murray, tactical vote to keep some overpaid footballer out!!

Justin Rose is surely to contend. You never know, he may go on to win the Open championship.

Poor Froome.

He wins the Tour de France, only the second Brit to win it, as he follows Wiggins success of last year. But nobody seems overly excited about him winning it.

He possibly could have won the SPY any other year for that success in France, but Murray will beat him to that title.

Must admit Froome hasn't had the sort of coverage Wiggins had last year.
