Where to fit a 'magnaclean'

But my boiler has four pipes. They all show boilers with two pipes. What do I do with the spare 2 pipes on my boiler that are currently doing the cylinder?

Why are you worried? Converting it won't be your problem.

The main purpose of a Magnaclean is to prevent magnetite particles getting into the heat exchanger of a boiler. This matters on modern boilers which have very narrow water passages in the heat exchanger for greater efficiency, but much less (if at all) on older boilers with much wider passageways.

If your boiler has survived for a good number of years without a filter, why fit one now.

Also, no point fitting one on the HW, as assuming all copper pipework, no magnetite.

I'm not worried, it was just that I notice all the new systems I wire up for a couple of different plumbers always get a magnaclean as part of the work, so I figured it would probably be a good idea to fit one to my system. Surely removing all the crud out the system has to be a good thing, and as it's a one piper upstairs, a power flush will not work. as I understand it.

Why don't you answer the question about what I do with the two extra pipes from my boiler?

Are you scared that an electrician might steal all your work?

Thanks dan. I've had a look but it's not really clear. Do the two pipes that currently supply the cylinder go seperately into the heat exchanger on their own loop, or ar they just the opposing ends of the pipes that supply the central heating?

I'm sure these are silly questions to someone like your self, but I like to learn all this stuff.

I interpreted it perfectly thanks. Now back to my extra pipes. Can you answer any of the questions I asked about them?
