Dear all I am hoping someone could shed some light on an issue I am having with my heating system, I had to replace 2, 2 port motorised valves 1 was a honeywell (controls central heating) the other a sunvic. this was due to the boiler remaining on and the only way to stop it was to switch off the power.

Now they have been replaced the on/off side for the water and heating is working fine, however the pressure was set to 1 bar.
The heating came on to bring the house up from 15.5 degrees to 18 degrees however I noticed the boiler pressure hit 3 bar and in the red.
I emptied out some water to drop the pressure to 1 bar and put the heating back on, it rose to 2 bar with about 20 minutes. I don't ever remember it going up this high before.

My question is, could the actuators I replaced have directly effected the boiler pressure?

What could be causing it and how can I remedy it?

The actuators are the wrong way round. Possibly even wired wrong. Or the battery inside the actuators is too strong causing resistance on the water side.

Could also be the copper pipes leading up to the actuators being too clean? Paint them that will help.

One last thing is check pump is reading a book.

HTH.

I'm a bit confused, the actuators would only go on one way, and matched exactly to the ones I took off, I also swapped the wires like for like and one by one.

They don't have batteries in either

You have completely confused me

What boiler do you have? Maybe the paddle is stuck in one actuator?

I got mine sorted by changing the bypass valve on the wall.

It's a Worcester boss green star 12i

I can here the honeywell actuator kick in and it switches the boiler on and off and the sunvic valve also switches the hot water on and off.

How can I check if a paddle is stuck?

Do the 2 port valves effect the boiler pressure?

Oh yes they do. Think about it. They close. Thus putting more leather on the system, makes boss pressure gauge go up. Bad boss.

Seriously, because I'm becoming bored of you. Search in the search button expansion vessel charge.

That's not very helpful.... That has nothing to do with motorised valves.

Kenny, you have done the valves right check that the filling loop is turn off 100% and remove filling loop if fitted to make sure it not seeping by. That is 1 of 3 thing I can think why the pressure is rising.

Dan.

Thank you stardanny for your helpful reply, I shall attempt the filling loop replacement and see if that solves the issue

Failing that I shall get a heating engineer to come and look at the pressure vessel as it was only fitted a couple of years ago and if I remember correctly the boiler has something like a 10 year warranty

The boiler must be serviced every 12 months after it was fitted and recorded, if it has not been serviced you will have lost the 10 year warranty.
The most likely cause is the expansion unit flat or filling loop passing as already said.
The checking of the expansion vessel should be checked as part of a service it will not be covered under warranty.
If you look at the FAQ at the top of the forum it explains how to check and recharge it.
