Hi,

My 1999 Jetta has a leak as in the picture below. Can anybody tell me what is the name of the part that is leaking and is there anything that I can tighten there?

Thanks!

Can't see if its the radiator hose clamp (non tightening with that type) or the other connection......is it a PAS hose perhaps?
Can you post a larger pic?

Is that a pic of the underside of you're Jetta's radiator? The part looks like the coolant drain tap normally found at the bottom left hand (near side) of the radiator, try tightening it maybe.

Its a plastic part that looks like some sort of valve. One end goes into the radiator, the other has a hose attached to it. The valve has an outlet at the bottom, but looks like the leak is from inside the valve itself.

with a cold engine try loosening the black circular knob type thing with the hole in the middle and then tighten it back up, it may just need re seating.

I'm not familiar with that one, but isn't it a drain plug......maybe a bayonet type of fitting?
I would have thought it would unscrew, anticlockwise.

Yeah after reading all the replies, I think its a cooling system drain plug, its been a while since I had to get under a car, last time was when I was still a college student in the late 80s and the car was a 1976 Ford Escort =)

Car parts looked very different back then!!!

I will try loosening it up and re-tightening as was suggested, weird that it would leak from the outside though.
