Water leaking through tundish

Hello,

I have leak I have discovered over the past few days.

The picture shows where I can see water running from.

I don't know anything about electric boilers but have discovered there is two red bits that turn and release more water while held turned. I think they might be some sort of pressure relief valve?

The stopcock does stop the leak and I have turned off the boiler and water for the time being.

Does this mean one of the valves require replacing? is there any easy fix/solution?

Stop twiddling and call a professional.

If you're lucky the EV just needs recharging. If you're unlucky then your twiddling will have knackered the safety valves.

Ok thanks, what is a EV?
Is it best to keep the electric boiler turned off and the water off until it's been looked at?

The safety valve will have failed seen loads on this calleffi inlet groups

The seating wears away the valve will need to be replaced by someone qualified to work on unvented cylinders

The ev is the expansion vessel but again it not something you should be playing with.

Is this not the case of just turning off electric and water and replacing a valve or is there special tools required to pressure check for the fault?

You need a Plumber with a G3 ticket which qualifies him/her to work on unvented hot water tanks, which is what you have there. Failure to maintain or repair these correctly can result in the possibility of the installation becoming dangerous.

It's not special tools but correct knowledge that's needed get it wrong and you'll be in a lot of bits and you'll leave ringing in the ears of people several streets away

They have bypassed the safety controls (same as wrong adjustment incorrect valves for situation)

Got a plumber in,
The ev was completely full and once that was sorted the cold 6 bar valve was found to also be leaking. Costed less than expected so was tipped for how prompt it was done

Very similar to my problem recently, the EV was full and the 6 bar valve needed replacing, we found a bit of damage on where the seal is which may have been there from manufacture. Again quite cheap and quick job just need to keep an eye on the tundish as EV seal may have gone and thus may become full again.

Well done KD for getting your unvented cylinder sorted out properly .As it has been explained these things can be dangerous for yourself and others around you if they are not maintained correctly
