Fire hinges with limited access

Have fitted fire hinges to these panel doors in an attempt to convert them to 30min. Fire doors. The spring on the hinges is tightened by an Allen key type lock on the top of the hinges. Because the door is not a normal 90deg. door it is very difficult to tighten the hinges. Any ideas on a tool that would do the job?

What stops the hex key from being used easily? Don't know what "the door is not a normal 90deg. door" means...

We were planning on using fire retardant paint but it's not worth the hassle so plan to instal 30min blanks but will still have the same problem accessing the hinges..

Small Hostel, 12 beds. And the bathrooms open onto a Protected staircase.

so you will need to satisfy some kind of official inspector that you have met the relevant regulations. In UK they are quite particular about such places.

I suppose he has approved the doors, frames and hinges.

Why don't you use a Perko closer?

The only reason I need fire doors on the bathrooms is because I used wood paneling on the bathroom walls & ceilings as they are warmer and easier to maintain then tiles. Not taking that lot out again for the sake of 3 doors.
Looked at the Perko but chippie says they would be too difficult to fit in the position where the doors are. What do you think?

you take the door off to fit it. You drill a 25mm hole into the edge of the door, about half-way down.

I can assure you Yes. When we opened 18years ago there was ordinary coal used here and the dirt would come through the windows so when you washed the tiles down the grout would be black. The Town went smokeless about 7 years ago but they also built a 4 lane highway outside our front door and now the pollution from the road makes up for the absence of coal burning.
If I took the panelling off now the tiles would be full of holes where the 2 x 1 was fixed to support the paneling.

Perko. Yes we have seen how to fit it but we do not know if we can get in to tighten it. I don't think the chippie has ever fitted on.

it comes with a split wedge device to stop the chain being pulled inside by the spring during fitting, so you can adjust it before fitting. If need be you could take it out, adjust it, and fit it again.
