We have recently completed a bathroom refurb with l.e.d mirror with on/off sensor but it turns itself on and off and has started to flicker constantly. It was fitted by an electrician but rather than bring him back we were gonna try and fix it ourselves but theres a lot of wires behind it, we are assuming a loose connection. Any help much appreciated :)

It is probably a faulty sensor, or the sensor thinks there is something nearby that is making it activate.
The product should have a warranty, use it. Messing around with the innards may invalidate this.

As above, could be sensor failure or loose cable or fault lampholder.
It is always worth changing the lamp (AKA bulb "as B&Q know them"), just in case. But after that I would not be messing too much, call the electrician and they will very likely suggest it is taken back and replaced.

When it turns itself on and off, do you hear the relay 'click' in it? If so, its likely a sensor or switch fault.

If you hear nothing, it could be the wiring to the LED's, or the LED strips themselves.

Hi
No the bathroom showroom supplied the mirror, theres definately no clicking sound when ithe sensor is activated. Ive just measured and the sensor is approx 27cm away from the shower doors, surely this isnt what the problem is?? When i went into bathroom to measure just now lights are flicking on/off!

So dont know now whether its just faulty or its a loose wire or something.

I don't know the exact LED construction used by the OP, but the flexible printed circuit strip on some LED lighting may be affected by condensation - I have a multicolour strip in the kitchen, and several of the groups of 3 LEDs are showing different colours now - I can only assume that some of the surface mounted components have collected condensed water and it has changed their effective values.

The electronic parts of the device may need to be mounted in a sealed tube or similar for bathroom use.

Did they also do or arrange the installation of the bathroom? If so report it to them and get them to do or arrange a repair or replacement - it's not your job to start trying to diagnose the problem.

It doesn't work and it's their responsibility to fix it.
