Benson Boiler Top Plate Insulation

I have a Benson boiler. The insulation board bolted to the top inspection plate has cracked across and the loose part is just hanging with no fixing. Hasn't fallen in on the baffles yet, but only a matter of time. No spares from the original maker. All you generally get off them is "obsolete model"
Any thoughts please? Possible source of replacement material to make a part? Cheers

This is gas related work and certainly not a DIY job. We dont advise on DIY gas work!

Obvious advice is to get a gas reg engineer and see if any are prepared to do a bodge repair.

Yes it's oil fired!

Try a heating parts place for a piece of insulation that can be cut to size. Maybe something from a range cooker such as Rayburn or Alpha.

Thanks, I'll try that. Hadn't thought about cutting down a piece from something else! The only places I can find so far sell it in big sheets.

That's it. It's hanging off the plate only supported by two studs in the middle and has of course cracked along the line of the holes. I think I've found some ceramic fibre board that looks like it'll do the job.
