hi there

The bleed valve on my upstairs is leaking. I have BG coming out on Wednesday to fix it but looking for an interim solution.

The valve to isolate the radiator is hard to move and i dont want to force it.

Could I put plumbers mait around it as a temporary solution (would this invalidate my contract with BG?) or should I just keep an eye on the pressure on the boiler and top up as necessary?

Cheers

If you cannot turn the radiator valves off, your pretty well stuffed!
Have you tried to nip the bleed valve up a little to see if the leak stops?

Thanks for your quick reply.

It is just a drip but a constant drip. I dont want to force something and end up making it worse! I am not DIY minded at all.

I just want to make sure that in this cold weather and Glasgow is freezing at the moment that I dont have to turn off my heating - I guess I can just keep an eye on the pressure and top up if needed until BG come on Wednesday?

Cheers

That's what I would do, put some old towels under the radiator to catch the leaking water (remember to check them regularly) ;)
