1 Way 2 Gang Switch Issue

Hi

Sounds like I've caused some confusion. try again

I haven't changed anything as yet. Prior to changing anything I wanted to know of I had any kind of fundamental problem, especially with the same set (out of the 2) going each time. All I've done is unscrew the switch. I have 2 new sets of lights to replace the whole lot which are LED 6 w. The current sets are attached to a transformer in sets of 3, therefore 2 transformers daisy chained together and it is the second set that keeps failing.
Personally I would bin the transformers and move to 230 vac. The question is then what rewiring may be required. With 230 vac even when the earth is not used it has to be there. Back in 1966 the rules on earths to lights changed and although in some cases it seems daft because of the problems where plastic is replaced for metal today the earth must be there even if not used.

The 1/3 and 2/3 split has been used in Europe for years, this gives three levels of lighting four if you include off. The problem is running the cables great on a new build not so easy once house is decorated. If my floor boards were ever lifted or ceiling dropped I would re-wire with 1/3 and 2/3 split but it's down to the physical problem of getting the wires in.

If chafing and not yet purchased I would also look at the 240 volt led versions of lighting choices.

Hopefully the buggers never cut the earths off.

This person is selling these, also excellent transformers, just check with him the wattage rating against which you want, also that you can fit it where needed. Cheap nasty ones tend to be very small.

Several selling various IBL ones on eBay also, the easy ones to install have the terminal built in the transformer, also the best ones. The other ones that look like a stick of dynamite also excellent, so reliable.

Cheers Guys

Ordered the dynamite IBL one from ebay, worth a try. I'll let you know how I get on. Thanks for all the help and advice, really appreciated.
